How Building/Fire Codes Drive Hardware Design and Certification § Codes may specifically designate design/performance

How Building/Fire Codes Drive Hardware Design and Certification § Codes may specifically designate design/performance criteria such as California Building Code – 1008. 1. 10. 1 (3) – “The actuating portion of the releasing device shall extend at least one-half of the door leaf width” – 1008. 1. 10. 1 (4) – “The maximum unlatching force shall not exceed 15 pounds (67 N)” – 11 B-309. 4 – “Operable parts shall be operable with one hand shall not require tight grasping, pinching, or twisting of the wrist. The force required to activate operable parts shall be 5 pounds (22. 2 N) maximum. ” • CBC was directly responsible for the initial development of the AX option for exits • Almost all current Allegion NPD projects have some form of ADA compliance as a design requirement
