Objectives • Increase awareness of a broad range of internal & external resources • With an ageing workforce and increased outsourcing of maintenance and operations activities, it is vital that time and knowledge poor stakeholders (who typically fall outside corporate process safety training strategies) are engaged and equipped to ensure they play their part in sustaining the integrity of assets • Put Process Safety (Asset Integrity) knowledge into the hands of those who may contribute to and/or be impacted by Loss of Containment (Lo. C) events. • Users or ‘Players’ are encouraged & helped to learn & apply simple principles: • • REMEMBER Events RECOGNISE Cause (Threats) RESPECT Controls (Barriers) REPORT Concerns • Thereafter, there is an obligation on the duty-holder to: • RESPOND to Feedback • RECOVER Protection www. Playing Cards Improve Awareness & Vigilance • Visualization is used to get and keep the workforce onboard with the process safety mission • Gamification is not new but can be expensive and take time to play board games • Cards offer an organic approach that can develop with community feedback • Use familiar playing cards with 52 separate Lo. C events divided into suits: • In crude terms “Know your enemy” ♥ DISCHARGE Containment is lost via an open route to atmosphere ♣ DAMAGE External impact ♦ DEVIATION Failure beyond design conditions/envelope (over-stress) ♠ DEGRADATION Failure within conditions/envelope (under-strength) www.
