Cultural x Social x Moral x Spiritual Technology News Alistair Niclair Apple App-Store Prices: Up by 25% Apple has decided to raise prices of apps and in-app-purchases by 25% since Brexit and the fall of the pound. Since June’s vote to leave the EU, the pound has fallen from more than $1. 45 to under $1. 22. This comes after Apple raised the price of i. Pads, i. Phones and i. Macs. As you may have worked out, developers only get to choose from several price tiers; the first tier is currently 79 p but this will be pushed up to 99 p which is the most common price currently. However, Apple will be introducing two alternative tiers for developers who wish to maintain their low prices: 49 p and 79 p. This 20 p difference might not seem significant but this means that all in-app-purchases in the game Super Mario Run will rise from £ 7. 99 to £ 9. 99. Prices are also expected to rise in India and Turkey. Apple, Microsoft and Tesla have all increased the cost of certain products in response to the falling pound. Apple’s new i. Phone 7 now starts at £ 599, while the prices of some laptops were increased by 20%.

Cultural x Moral x Social x Spiritual Film of the Week James Ghest Split (15) Split is a 2016 American psychological horror film written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan. The film stars James Mc. Avoy, Anya Taylor-Joy and Betty Buckley. It has been described as a thematic sequel to the 2000 film ‘Unbreakable’. The film premiered at Fantastic Fest on September 26, 2016 and was released on January 20 2017 by Universal Pictures. While the mental divisions of those with dissociative identity disorder have long fascinated and eluded science, it is believed that some can also manifest unique physical attributes for each personality, a cognitive and physiological prism within a single being. Though Kevin has evidenced 23 personalities to his trusted psychiatrist, Dr. Fletcher, there remains one still submerged who is set to materialize and dominate all the others. Compelled to abduct three teenage girls led by the willful, observant Casey, Kevin reaches a war for survival among all of those contained within him - as well as everyone around him - as the walls between his compartments shatter apart The film has received mostly positive feedback, averaging about a 7 -8/10, James Mc. Avoy has been especially praised for his role ‘Kevin’, and it should satistfy those who are looking for a good scare.
Cultural x Social x Moral Spiritual Healthy Chicken Burgers Mr Goffe Serves 4 Ingredients · 500 g boneless, skinless chicken thighs · 1 small onion, very finely chopped · a few sprigs of tarragon, finely chopped (optional) · 1 tsp dried oregano · olive oil · 4 burger buns, cut in half · 1 tbsp mayonnaise · 1 tbsp mustard · lettuce leaves · 1 large tomato, sliced · sea salt and freshly ground black pepper Method 1. Make sure the chicken thighs are well chilled, or even partially frozen, as this will make them much easier to chop. Using a very sharp knife, dice the chicken as finely as possible. 2. Put the chicken into a bowl and add the onion, some of the tarragon, if using, and the oregano. Add half a teaspoon of salt and some pepper. Divide the chicken into 4 portions and shape into burgers about 2 cm thick. 3. Heat a large griddle or a frying pan to medium hot. Brush the burgers with a little oil, then place them on the griddle or pan, spaced well apart if possible. Leave them to cook for 4 minutes, without moving them, then carefully lift them off with a metal spatula and turn them over. The burgers should be well seared and lift off easily; if they don’t, leave them for a little longer. Cook them on the other side for 4 minutes, then carefully flip them over again and cook for another minute on each side. 4. Serve in toasted burger buns. 5. If you like, you can add more herbs or some chilli or citrus zest to your burger mix. Or keep the burgers plain and add a rasher or two of bacon or some avocado slices or even some creamy blue cheese. The possibilities are endless.
