Priority Standards and Supporting Standards - - - Priority Standards are like the squares of a quilt, they take up the most time during the school year. Supporting Standards are like the stitching that bind those standards together. Once attached/taught, priority standards can become supporting standards for other units.

In grade teams, review your standards. Note that they are separated into different categories: - Reading and Informational Text Foundational Skills Writing Speaking and Listening Language
Focus in on Literary and Informational Text (R): - Independently review the standards and star the ones you think are priorities based on the REAL criteria (5 minutes). Consult with your grade team on the ones you selected as priorities (5 minutes) Locate and highlight your agreed upon priority standards from the envelope. Organize the standards based on which you consider priorities to those that would be supporting standards on the poster paper. If time, do the same with the writing standards.
