Key Outcomes for the East Midlands n n MML should provide a similar service to other main lines in terms of speed, frequency and comfort by 2020 Connectivity between Derby, Leicester, Lincoln, Northampton, Nottingham and other major cities must be significantly enhanced HS 2 Station in the EM with at least 10 trains per hour (5 each way) All parts of the East Midlands should benefit from capacity released by HS 2

Conclusions Concerns about the future of MML have undermined the case for HS 2 in the eyes of many local politicians so far n Speed and connectivity remain the key concerns for both politicians and business leaders n HS 2 must be seen as a key part of a wider package of improvements to gain widespread political support n
