DOCUMENT 1 • 1. Would you rather work as a scribe or a printer? Explain. • 2. Write a brief thought bubble above each picture representing the thoughts of each worker. • 3. Consider differences in time and accuracy of a scribe copying a text from a prior manuscript, or several scribes copying a book from dictation (someone reading it to them). What problems of accuracy might arise from copying a book taken from dictation (speaking) or copying a book from a previous handwritten book? • 4. Estimate the time it would take to copy your favorite book as a gift for a friend. How long would it take to copy that book for all of your friends? How likely would all of the copies be exactly the same?
