AGE Sixty percent of my participants were aged between fifteen and seventeen years old.

AGE Sixty percent of my participants were aged between fifteen and seventeen years old. This was an advantage as this age range is within the age range of my target audience which is fifteen to twenty one year olds. This means the results from this questionnaire will be of great use towards the production of my magazine as it will be relevant and suitable for its target audience.

GENDER There is diversity within gender of my participants which is useful. However, to ensure the results were more useful, I should have included at least another male to balance it more slightly as males are part of my target audience so I could have produced a male and female friendly magazine.

EMPLOYMENT STATUS Four out of five of the participants were Sixth Form / College students which is useful as it means that they are in the target audience for my magazine. Therefore, the results from this questionnaire are useful and of high relevance.

HOBBIES AND INTERESTS A majority of the hobbies and interests of the participants include music, gigs/concerts and shopping. The reason as to why I chose to ask this question was so I know what I should base the adverts in my magazine on as they should be based on the hobbies and interests of my participants. Ideas for adverts could include new album releases, concert tickets and headphones.

EXISTING MAGAZINE PREFERENCE I decided to create the answer option as a dotted line

EXISTING MAGAZINE PREFERENCE I decided to create the answer option as a dotted line so the participant could freely choose their answer. The response was fairly similar - Kerrang and NME being the most popular current magazines upon my participants. Therefore, they will be the magazines I will look at as primary research as sources of ideas and inspiration.

MAGAZINE PURCHASE FREQUENCY The reason behind the monthly release of my magazine was the response to this question. Four out of the five participants said they rarely purchase magazines. Therefore, I think a monthly released magazine would be suitable as less people would buy a magazine that is released so frequently because it would be costly.

WHERE TO PURCHASE? Three out of the five participants said they would rather purchase

WHERE TO PURCHASE? Three out of the five participants said they would rather purchase the magazine in a newsagents. Therefore, if it was actually being sold, I would choose either a newsagent or supermarket, as the remaining participants selected a supermarket.

WILLING TO PAY £ 2. 35 A MONTH? Eighty percent of the participants said they were willing to pay the £ 2. 35 for my magazine per month. The reason behind the selection of this price was because it is a monthly magazine, therefore, it would be slightly more costly than weekly magazines due to its infrequent release. Also, I would personally say that £ 2. 35 is the average price for a monthly magazine.

FREE GIFTS/OFFERS IN MAGAZINE A majority of the participants suggested that I include gig/concert

FREE GIFTS/OFFERS IN MAGAZINE A majority of the participants suggested that I include gig/concert ticket discounts as part of a free gift/offer in the magazine. This is a common, persuasive feature of a magazine which is mainly used to draw people in. I could even include this feature as part of a competition.

COLOUR SCHEME I am going to conform with the majority vote and adopt a varied colour scheme. Apart from the fact that most of the participants suggested it, I feel that a rigid colour scheme can cause tediousness and would prevent my magazine from reaching its full potential in terms of appeal.

FAVOURITE BAND/ARTISTS These are the five favourite artists and bands of the participants. I am currently unsure about what I am going to do with these in relation to my magazine but some ideas include images of them in cover lines on the front or contents page or as part of a long list of artists and bands.

MAGAZINE FEATURE Two out of the five participants suggested that the featuring article should be an interview. Despite the fact that it is a majority win, I have come to the decision that I will base my featuring article on ‘A Day in the Life of. . . ’ an artist or band that I shall make up. The reason behind this decision is that interviews are the most commonly used idea for featuring articles so it is likely that readers are getting bored of them, so a slightly more individual article is more likely to increase the number of readers my magazine would have.
