Primary Learning Activities wellbeing Be kind to yourself
Primary Learning Activities (wellbeing) Be kind to yourself TASK : How many more ways can you be kind to yourself? List/discuss all the ways you can be kind to your own body and mind. What will you do today to be kind to yourself? How will this make you feel? Will there be a further effect on those around you? (will you be kinder to your sister because you are in a good mood? Will you be more helpful around the house after because you have already done something for yourself? )
Primary Learning Activities (mindfulness) describe… TASK: Close your eyes, get someone to pass you an object, Touch and turn the object in your hands (keep your eyes closed) while your mind and words describe each detail. Now swap over and find something for them.
Primary Learning Activities (mindfulness) listen… TASK: For 1 minute, close your eyes and listen. After 1 minute, open your eyes. How many sounds can you remember hearing? What do you think they were? Did you notice any other sense? Smell, taste, feel? Repeat this activity in a different location – go outside or to a different room.
Primary Learning Activities (mindfulness) breathe… TASK: Lie down on your back. Place a soft toy on your tummy. Breathe in and out slowly and deeply. Focus on making your toy rise up and down with your breathing.
Primary Learning Activities (growth mindset) Be more positive It’s really easy to think negative thoughts about what is happening or what might happen. These can really bring you down and stop you having fun or experiencing new things. With a little change to your thought process, you could discover you have perseverance, talent or experience the time of you life! Task: think of a positive way to say the following statements: Negative: Positive: I’m not good at this. If I keep practising, I will get better! I give up. I’ll never be as good as that person. Everyone will be mean to me. I’m going to catch the virus and be sick.
Primary Learning Activities (perspectives, community) We are all unique Discuss/write Task 1: What makes you who you are? Task 2: Think about your best friend. Or a neighbour/classmate. How are you similar to them? In what ways are you different? Task 3: Yes or no? (feel free to discuss) Should you and your friend be allowed to sit at the same table for lunch? Would you be sad If people were forced to only sit with people who have the same hair colour? Will it hurt me to listen to what you say? What if I don’t believe what you are saying? Can you learn anything from people who are different?
