Master of Ceremonies Natalie Tendall is a reporter for the 2 NEWS Investigates team. She has had a passion for the news since childhood when she would “pretend” to be a news reporter and anchor. She followed her dream and earned a degree in Communications Arts – Electronic Media and Public Relations at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. Before moving to Dayton, she spent a few years at KIMT-TV in Mason City, Iowa as the Weekend Anchor and Reporter. Her work ethic and passion for digging deeper and exposing problems have earned her numerous awards including, “Best Investigative Reporting” in 2014 from the Ohio Associated Press. As a Midwest native, Natalie has covered a wide range of topics from indepth investigations, politics, and weather disasters. Natalie is also the Vice President of Dayton’s Red Shoe Society which helps support the mission of the Ronald Mc. Donald House Charities of Dayton. In her spare time Natalie enjoys exploring new places with her husband, attending barre workout classes and going to theatre. She has traveled extensively, and her favorite trips involve touring Europe and South Africa with the Wartburg College Choir.
Altrusa Club • Recipient: Toni Bailey Reason for nomination: Even before becoming an Altrusan, Toni assisted the Club with our fundraisers and service projects. As a member, she is the first to volunteer when help is needed and she participates in almost all our service work and events. Toni’s smile is a welcoming sight that puts everyone in a good mood.
Altrusa Club • Recipient: Courtney Seibert Reason for nomination: As a two year member of Altrusa, Courtney already has compiled many volunteer hours by participating in service projects and assisting with events. She brought a new fundraising idea to the Club that has raised over $600. As one of the youngest members in the Club, Courtney’s enthusiasm keeps us going.
Civitan Club of Dayton • Name of Recipient : Marianne Bailey Reason for nomination: Marianne has been a member of the Dayton Civitan club for only the last year, but she is certainly no stranger to serving the community. She is currently the president of www. theseniortutor. com, a company that specializes in providing technology training for seniors. Her company trains seniors on a variety of technology subjects including the use of tablets and social media. She has been featured in the Dayton Daily news and interviewed by Cox Media. Outside of her company and Civitan, Marianne is also involved with Toast Masters and several animal rescue organizations. She is the type of rare individual who constantly looks for ways to give back to the community and exactly the type of person who should be honored in this way. We are lucky to have her as a member of the Dayton Civitan club
Civitan Club of Dayton • Name of Recipient : Dayton City Police Officer Zackery Williams Reason for nomination: Officer Zackery Williams is an exemplary officer who organizes events where Police officers connect and for relationships with the community. On January 16, 2016 he spearheaded a community meeting where local police officers can connect with the people they serve at a Trotwood Church. He has served as a Swat Member, a Community Response Team Member, and also serves his church as a Technology, Sound and Board Technician. He represents the finest in his professional and personal life.
Dayton Arab American Forum DAAF • Name of Recipient: Maha Kashani Reason for nomination: Maha has been the President of Dayton Arab American Forum (DAAF) going on two years now. As President, she has instituted many new ideas that have helped DAAF raise money for our organization and raise awareness for our programs which help promote our Arab Culture to the community. In addition, Maha takes a very active role in our community and has a passion for working with Young Professional organizations to help attract and retain young talent in and around the Dayton Region. She is also the Chairwoman of the Better Business Bureau’s Center for Business and Consumer Ethics Board of Directors and a member of the Centerville Noon Optimist Club
Dayton Arab American Forum DAAF Name of Recipient: John Gevat Reason for nomination: John Gevat organized a first time event of trying to help the elderly so they would have a van available to pick them up for doctor appointments, grocery store visits, pharmacy runs etc. Brookville Brews, Grapes and Brews sold out over 300 tickets. The beer and wine tasting held at the Brookville Music Center was enjoyed by one and all. We will be giving a check to Brookville Handivan in the amount of $10, 000. In all there were about 14 on the committee, “Friends for a Better Brookville”, who donated their time to put this together. Also the local companies donated very generously to help pay the expenses. John has also been very responsive to helping many non profits raise funds through silent auctions and door prizes.
Rotary Club of Dayton • Recipient: Kim Bramlage Reason for nomination: Kim Bramlage has served the Rotary Club this year as the Director of International Service for the Club. She has worked with the Nigeria Borehole International Project Team, and the DECA Global Village Project. Kim also had to step up and take over as Chair for the Club Youth Exchange Committee when the previous chair had been appointed to serve at the District Level in Youth Exchange. The Dayton Club hosted two In Bound Students for the first time and one Out Bound student, meaning Kim was coordinating the biggest number of Youth Exchange students in Rotary District 6670. She did an outstanding job organizing a District Youth Exchange overnight for all the Youth Exchange students during the 20 th Anniversary of the Bosnia Peace Accords. Around 20 students were housed, shuttled, entertained with local events, cared for and fed all under Kim’s direction.
High Five Twelve Club - Dayton Recipient: Clarke Wyllie Reason for Nomination: Clarke Willie has been a valuable and long-time participant in a many Masonic and community activities. He continues to exhibit the qualities that build our community and nation with his enthusiastic leadership positions. Clarke is a Past President of the Presidents Club of Dayton, a current member of the Civitan Club of Dayton, and Riverdale Optimist Club.
Kiwanis Club - Brookville Recipient: Dale Walters Reason for nomination: Dale is always ready to step in and help our club. He is a great role model to the youth our club serves. He is unselfish and takes leadership roles whenever needed. For these and many more reasons, Dale is our Outstanding Volunteer of the Year.
Lions- Centerville Club • Recipient: Amy Gephart Reason for nomination: Amy has been the President of Centerville Lions Club for 2 years. Amy is a good leader; she sets direction, actively participates in club events, provides guidance, and encourages others to get involved. Amy is very creative and networks well with other organizations. Some examples of recent initiatives: she has organized a second year “Night at the Dayton Dragons” for area Lions Clubs; she submitted an application to Lions International and was one of two Ohio recipients for monies to partner with Anthem Foundation to sponsor a health fair for the Centerville – Miamisburg area; she reached out to Grant Nature Park and coordinated a bird feeder project in local parks.
Lions - Dayton Club • Recipient: Kari Layman Reason for nomination: Kari Layman is our Lion of the year. She is the Executive Assistant for the Lions Eye Bank of West Central Ohio. We acknowledge Kari for her Courage, her Loyalty, and her Creative Thinking to say nothing about her Bubbly Personality and a Smile that says “Hello, How can I Help You”? Kari is a Valued Member of the Springboro Lions Club.
Miami Valley Military Affairs Association MVMAA Recipient: Michael Mayer Reason for nomination: Michael Mayer for his outstanding service above and beyond to the Military Communities of the Miami Valley. Following Mike’s year as President of MVMAA, his successor was unable to assume the role. Without hesitation, Mike stayed on for a second year and ensured that the Mission of MVMAA continued without interruption.
Montgomery County PAAL • Recipient: Dr. Rockney Carter • Reason for nomination: Dr. Carter and his wife have sheltered many children in troubled times. He is an active member of the Sheriff’s Office/Montgomery County Improving Modern Policing and Community Trust (I. M. P. A. C. T. ) committee; where he faithfully attends with fellow based faith leaders, citizens and area law enforcement officials to discuss community concerns and to assist to build a better relationship amongst the police and community. He is never too busy to answer a call, a request, or a plea.
Montgomery County PAAL • Recipient: Bruce A. Langos • Reason for nomination: Bruce A Langos is a Certified Humane Agent and a Commissioned Honorary Deputy Sheriff. Bruce is on many boards and is the Chairman for the Montgomery County Drug Free Coalition whose mission is to promote drug-free community. He is also a board member of the Minority Economic Development Council and many other non profit organizations.

Optimist - East Dayton Club • Recipient: Jo. Ann Martin Reason for nomination: Jo. Ann Martin has been an active member of the East Dayton Optimist Club since May 2011. Her passion for the youth of East Dayton was evident from the beginning of her membership in our club. Jo. Ann was employed at Sinclair College as a Grants Management Specialist where she helped many students fulfill their academic dreams. In addition to being our newsletter editor, with a special flare for levity and good humor, Jo. Ann manages our fund-raising effort, selling soft pretzels and lemonade at the Kettering Holiday at Home Festival. Last year Jo. Ann also personally funded the purchase of “Cinch Sacks” with the Friend of Youth logo and a picture of a Police Officer on them. When we distributed new shoes to kindergarteners at Ruskin and Wright Brothers Schools, the children placed their old shoes and socks in the “Cinch Sacks”. Police Officers assisted in putting the new shoes on the youth. The concept was Jo. Ann’s idea to remind the youth that Police Officers are friends not foes. When Jo. Ann retired from Sinclair in December those she worked with her were so aware of her enthusiasm and commitment to this project that they decided to make a donation to our club on her behalf to ensure the
Optimist - East Dayton Club • • Recipient: Mary Ann Zimmer Reason for nomination: Mary Ann Zimmer has been a member of the East Dayton Optimist Club since October 2005, and was sponsored by her husband, longtime club member and former Dayton City Commissioner, Richard “Dick” Zimmer. Dick had established himself in the community as a face of the East Dayton Optimist Club, and Mary Ann immediately established herself right beside him. She worked tirelessly on projects such as the Essay and Oratorical Contests, the Easter Egg Hunt, and was one of the founders, along with Sue Labatzky, of the Shoes That Fit Program. Unfortunately, Dick Zimmer lost a hard battle to lung cancer after being married to Mary Ann for only five years. Rather than retreating and giving up the activities that she and her loving husband had worked on for the East Dayton Optimist Club, Mary Ann chose to continue with the projects without skipping a beat. This past Easter Sunday the Annual Richard A. Zimmer Easter Egg Hunt was held at Burkhardt Park and over 150 youth ages 0 -10 experienced the joy of dashing for the hidden treasures. It was Mary Ann who once again assured these youth would have the opportunity! Thank you Mary Ann. You are most deserving of recognition as an Outstanding Member of the East Dayton Optimist Club.
Optimist - Dor-Wood Club • Recipient: Dave Mills • Reason for nomination: Dor-Wood has fundraisers that help give back to the kids. The Avenue of the Flags is one that just took off. Dave Mills has been an integral part of our success. He helped with the ordering of flags, designing, the flag route, collecting the money, and rallying the club together.
Optimist - Dor-Wood Club • Recipient: Jerry Barnett • Reason for nomination: Jerry Barnett has had his hands in just about everything with Dor-Wood. But his heart has always been with the Safety Village. Jerry has spent time working with the city of Kettering, police and fire departments, and the school system to put on a safety program for our young children.
Optimist - Northridge Club • Recipient: Alan Schmidlapp Reason for nomination: Alan has been a very active member and Past President of the Northridge Optimist Club. He regularly attends our meetings and is active in all club functions. “He has a Heart to Serve. ”
Optimist - Northridge Club • Recipient: Diana Schaeter • Reason for nomination: Diana is currently the Secretary of the Northridge Optimist Club. She attends all of our weekly meetings and is very active with all our functions especially Christmas Sharing. She is a true asset to our club.
Optimist - Riverdale Club • Recipient: Kenneth Marchal Reason for nomination: Member since January, 1995 • Club treasurer for 10+ years, keeping tight control of finances • Past President 1997 -1998 • Spectacular in fund-raising efforts • Encourages support of our local groups including Dayton Area Soccer, United Rehab, Children’s Medical
Optimist - Riverdale Club • Recipient: Donna Matheney Reason for nomination: Member since June, 2002 • Past President, serving an extended term, 2014 to 2015 • Epitomizes the Optimist philosophy of life • Works to bring out the best in others • Donna is the heart of our club, always has a happy countenance, a willing attitude and a great interest in our Greater Dayton area.
Montgomery County Chapter PERI • Recipient: Edward Howard • Reason for Nomination: When we were in need of a vice president he stepped up and volunteered to except the position he is always willing to do what is necessary for the good of all, he is our Mr. Volunteer, he continues to volunteer and is a great asset to our organization. He is our Volunteer of the Year!
Twentig, Incorporated • Recipient: Linda Patmon Ford • Reason for Nomination: Linda Patmon Ford was nominated by the members of Twentig Inc. because of her passion, tenacity and commitment to the goals, principals and structure of the organization and she continuously challenges the membership to always be cognizant of those goals and principals as decisions are being considered for the organization.
