What is Padlet? • A simple means of presenting and sharing ideas from different contributors; a ‘thought wall’ • The link to the thought wall can be pasted into blackboard, Power. Point etc. • It’s free – my favourite price • Did I mention that it’s simple to use? • Er…that’s about it.

Why simple is important… The impact of technology on education delivery remains sub-optimal, because we may overestimate the digital skills of both teachers and students, because of naïve policy design and implementation strategies, because of a poor understanding of pedagogy, or because of the generally poor quality of educational software and courseware. (OECD, 2015, p 6, cited in Machin et al 2016)

Sorry I drifted a bit there and now I’m totally lost – what’s that

Sorry I drifted a bit there and now I’m totally lost – what’s that got to do with Padlet, technology and what not? • Students appreciate you trying something new • Students get a good laugh at you trying and failing; puts them at ease for when they have to use the technology • Models using new technology to your students; encourages them to try new approaches • Moderate your initial expectations • Start with low stakes – if technology doesn’t go to plan the lesson goes on • Change takes time, failure, reflection and resilience

Some future ideas • Leave Padlet open during class for end of session questions/reflections

Some future ideas • Leave Padlet open during class for end of session questions/reflections • Video presentations and comments • Use as ideas/presentation board for international collaborations • Open for comments about areas to cover in future sessions, student feedback etc • Score an undefeated century
