DEFINITON OF KEYBOARD � Keyboard is an input device which resembles with a type writer like keys that enables us to enter data into a computer.

PARTS OF KEYBOARD � Keyboard consists of five parts: 1. Alphabetical keys Numeric keys Special purpose keys Arrow keys Function keys 2. 3. 4. 5.
ALPHABETICAL KEYS � Alphabetic keys include letters from A-Z and punctuation marks such as ? , “ ‘ etc. The normal layout of the keyboard is QWERTY as the letters of the first row of the keyboard is QWERTY.
NUMERIC KEYS � Numeric keys include numbers from 0 - 9 Special Purpose Keys These are the following special purpose keys: 1. Enter key 2. Del & insert key 3. Caps lock key 4. Modifiers ------ alt, ctrl, shift etc
ARROW KEYS � Cursor movement keys controls the movement of cursor on the screen such as right, left, top, bottom.
FUNCTION KEYS � A function key is a key on a keyboard which can be programmed so as to cause an operating system command interpreter or application program to perform certain actions. Function keys are numbered from F 1 – F 12. In many application programs F 1 key is used to display help contents.
