Objectives 2
What is a Presentation? • Presentation is an oral report • The organisation needs to find the answer to a question • You must gather information to help with the answer • You must give an answer to the question – as far as you are able 3
Planning • Begin from your scenario or brief • Define the question that you are attempting to answer in one sentence • The answer that you give must be based on facts • Go and find information that will help you give your answer • Organise the information into a logical order • Must be: Beginning Middle End 4
Beginning • Beginning = Introduction – Introduce the speakers, their names and what part of the presentation they are concerned with – Explain what question you are attempting to answer – How you went about collecting the information and why you selected those sources 5
Middle • Middle = Findings – Structure this section with sub-headings – Tell your audience what the sub-headings are going to be and point out when you have moved on to the next one 6
End • End = Conclusion + Recommendations – Having told your audience what you have found out you must now tell them how that information is relevant to the original question – If there is anything that you think should be done in the light of your research, it should be mentioned at the end as recommendations – Thank your audience and, usually, ask for questions 7
What Matters? • 55% of impact is determined by posture, gestures and eye contact • 38% by voice • 7% by content of presentation 8
