Eulogies and Obituaries New Apostolic Church Southern Africa
Eulogies and Obituaries Eulogies (on request) are done after the last choir or soloist performance before the funeral service or after the divine service before the closing anthem Eulogies are delivered from a podium or other visible position in the church, but not from behind the altar. An appropriate speaker should be used. One who is able to handle the pressure of public speaking and not be overwhelmed by their own grief Duration is 5 minutes. Appropriate content befitting a divine service should only be shared. Obituaries (not compulsory) are prepared by the family and read by the officiant. The officiant decides on the final content to be read. He may choose to omit, enhance or share details during the divine service. The officiant will communicate any changes prior to the funeral service. An obituary needs to be an accurate account of the life of the deceased. Baptism, Sealing, Confirmation, wedding and ordination dates can be found on the member record on MIS NACTV Presentation – 28 January 2021 New Apostolic Church Southern Africa
Music for Funerals As with all divine services the officiant and or the music leaders choose the programme for the divine service Live performances by musicians are the standard. Soloists only during COVID and at a later stage choirs and orchestras. The use of back tracks is discouraged Hymn favourites of the deceased or family may not be appropriate for a funeral (e. g. O Happy Day. . ? ) Selection of hymns from our hymnals Secular music is certainly not appropriate Choice of soloists are the responsibility of the music leaders. Requests for special arrangements should be discussed with the music leaders. NACTV Presentation – 28 January 2021 New Apostolic Church Southern Africa
