Export Assessment Training • The purpose is to contribute in improving the global competitiveness of selected SMEs in South Africa Four (4) Components: 1. Export Assessment • The assessment provides a checklist to see if the enterprises are ready to profit from exporting.
Export Assessment Training • Describes how seda can make them export ready. • It is also a diagnostic tool for seda to determine the level of the SMEs must enter the programme on.
Export Assessment and Training 2. Roadshows • A series of full day awareness creation and motivational seminars aimed at informing SMEs about international trade opportunities • Focuses on SMEs with interest, but little or no previous experience in exporting.
Export Assessment and Training • Interested SMEs are referred to the nearest seda branch for consultation with a practitioner 3. Export Orientation Course • Conducted at the branches by accredited service providers
Export Assessment and Training • Focuses on the actual situation of each participating firm to assess its export readiness. • Targets potential exporters and companies that are already exporting, but want to strengthen their knowledge in this field of business
Export Assessment and Training • The course covers the following modules: o o Orientating your company towards exports Determining your company’s export readiness Introducing the technical aspects of exporting Developing an export market
Export Assessment and Training • Specific individual outputs – A written SWOT analysis that faces the company in the international market to be used as the basis for the export plan – Draft export plan – Duration of the course : ± 1 Month
Export Assessment and Training 4. Pre-Exhibition Training Course • Targeted to SMEs that will be participating in local and international exhibitions and Trade Fairs Facilitators are available at the seda branches.
