WHAT IS PRESENT TENSE ? Present PERFECT perfect tense is used to express action or situation that has or has occurred. When did the act or situation is not too important.
The Usage It is used to denote that an action which happened at an indefinite time in the past is complete at the moment of speaking. Spelling Note : 1. When we use the present perfect tense we are not interested in the time in the past, but we want to say that the action is already completed now e. g : 1. Widya has already seen this movie. 2. I have visited Bandung several times. 3. You have bought a car.
2. They are also used for an action began in the past but it is still in progress at the time of speaking, as in : e. g : 1. She has studied computer for two years. 2. She has live in Jambi since 2000. For or Since is normally used in this case : - For denotes a length of time till the time of speaking, it is used with a period of time : for three days, for three months, for six years. - Since denotes a point in the past till now, means from that point to the time speaking
There are two pattern of Simple Past Tense : A. Verbal sentence : ( + ) Subject + Have/Has + V 3 e. g We have lived here for 4 years. ( – ) Subject + Have/Has + not + V 3 e. g We have not lived here for 4 years. ( ? ) Have/Has + Subject + V 3 + ? e. g Have we lived here for 4 years? Yes, we have/ No, we haven’t
B. Nominal Sentence : ( + ) Subject + Have/Has + Been + Noun/Adj/Adv e. g She has been beautiful since she was child. ( – ) Subject + Have/Has + Not + Been + Noun/Adj/Adv e. g She has not been beautiful since she was child. ( ? ) Have/Has + Subject + Been + Noun/Adj/Adv e. g Has she beautiful since she was child? Yes, She has/No, She hasn’t
