Present tense You will use this tense to describe what: is happening happens (on a regular basis) does happen (if you wish to stress the action) In other words there are 3 ways of expressing this tense in English. In French there is only 1 way: e. g. she sings } she is singing* } elle chante she does sing } *Note here that you must not translate is e. g. elle est chante

ER verbs are by far the most numerous. • ER Verbs • To conjugate (to use an er verb in all its forms i. e. je, tu, il etc. ) an er verb you must: • (a) take away (er) to obtain the stem • e. g. chanter chant • (b) add endings on to the stem: e/es/e/ons/ez/ent
