VERBS n. A verb usually names the action in a sentence. n. We call the verb that ends in -ar the INFINITIVE
VERBS n. The INFINITIVE is the form you would find in a Spanish dictionary. n. In English it means n“to + (verb)”
These are some INFINITIVES you already know: Enseñar = to teach n Estudiar = to study n Hablar = to talk n Bailar = to dance n Cantar = to sing n Dibujar = to draw n Escuchar = to listent n Esquiar = to ski nn. Jugar = to play an n instrument or sport Montar = to ride n Nadar = to swim n Patinar = to skate n And several more! n
IN SPANISH: n. The last letter or letters of the verb tell you who does the action.
IN SPANISH: n. To change an INFINITIVE to a form that tells who is doing the action, remove the -ar and add the appropriate ending.
IN SPANISH: n. This action is called CONJUGATION
To study = estudiar I study You study He She it studies We study They study
ESTUDIAR = to study Yo (I) Tú (you) estudio (We) Nosotros estudiamos Nosotras estudias Él (he) estudia Ella (she) Ud. (You formal) Ellos (they) M estudian Ellas (they) F Uds. (you all)
STEM / ENDING n. For every infinitive in Spanish there is a stem and an ending.

THE VOSOTROS n Verb forms ending in áis, such as estudiáis, are used mainly in the country of Spain only. It is the informal way of saying you all do an action. We will not be using this conjugation in class, however it will be introduced occasionally in class, just for recognition.

NEGATING A SENTENCE n. When you want to say that you do not do something, use no before the verb form
