Present status of CRF @ ISO • Resolution 311 – TF 4 Compatibility, alternative booster seat envelope • Referring to a presentation by OICA at the GRSP meeting in May 2014 (GRSP-55 -35 e), WG 1 noted that the reduced booster seat envelope shown (based on FMVSS 225 fixture, identical to the ISOFIX positioning fixture in ISO 13216 -1: 1999) is not taking into account the specific needs of booster seats regarding desirable proportions. With reference to the current work on defining a booster seat envelope for 135 P 95 child, WG 1 suggests that alternative booster sizes should take into account the experiences from the ISO work. • The WG 1 priority for the time being is to finalise the work on the 135 P 95 booster seat envelope (together with the booster cushion envelope). If there are specific needs for an alternative booster seat envelope specification, WG 1 is open to consider its contribution. Copyright © 2013 CLEPA. Present status of CRF @ ISO • Resolution 312 – TF 4 Compatibility, remaining

Present status of CRF @ ISO • Resolution 312 – TF 4 Compatibility, remaining work on 135 P 95 booster seat envelope • WG 1 acknowledge that the work on the booster seat envelope (ref N 1068) is nearly completed, which is supported by the extensive study by JAMA (ref N 1078, checking the CAD envelope in 94 car models). • The following remaining actions will be made: ─ JAMA tries to provide information to François Renaudin on some of the car models to enable an evaluation with the physical fixture (the information will be kept anonymous). ─ The most recent CRF version should be evaluated with side airbag deployment. Additionally the CRF interaction with the airbag deployment should be understood in terms of any consequences for child safety. Autoliv is currently investigating this and Takata will contribute as well. Others are also welcome to contribute. ─ Belt routing specifications should be added to the envelope (see resolution 313). Present status of CRF @ ISO Resolution 313 – TF 4 Compatibility, adding belt

Present status of CRF @ ISO Resolution 313 – TF 4 Compatibility, adding belt routing features to the envelope To realise a good compatibility between belt geometry in vehicle and load bearing contact points of booster seats it is intended to equip the booster seat envelope with belt routing features. The belt routing features are applicable to both configurations; with or without support by ISOFIX. The lap portion of the seat belt is suggested to be realised in the same way as for the "seat belt gabarit" included in UN R 16, Annex 17, Appendix 1. The shoulder portion of the belt will require some more investigation. The next meeting of TF 4 (Web. Ex) is scheduled to be held on Monday, 7 July at 12. 00 CEST. Among other matters, a workshop with the physical fixture, including belt routing, will be planned at that Web. Ex meeting. Tentatively, the workshop will be held in Cologne in conjunction with the Kind und Jugend fair. Copyright © 2013 CLEPA. All rights reserved. www. clepa. eu 1 July 2014 3
