Greeting : The earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it, the world, and those who live in it. Psalm 24: 1

Welcome

Call to worship Feet, still now, upon the floor, no need to hurry. Hands, lie quietly at rest, no task to do just now.

Body, relax in peace, serene; now calmly rest. Mind, let go the scurrying, let thought be still, so still.

Soul, in silence vast as space, reach, yearning, loving, unto God.

Let us pray God, you touch our lives with mystery and hope. We come to this place today, ready to see your power working through us. Help us to be open to your Word, and to answer your call among us. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

Prayer of Confession:

Sometimes, our sins are too heavy to carry, too real to hide, and too deep to undo. But Jesus said, “My yoke is easy and my burden is light. ”

Let us bring to God in prayer our burden of sin and our yoke of guilt, confident and trusting in the Spirit of grace.

You asked for my hands, that you might use them for your purpose. I gave them for a moment, then withdrew them for the work was hard.

You asked for my mouth, to speak out against injustice. I gave you a whisper, that I might not be accused.

You asked for my eyes, to see the pain of poverty. I closed them, for I did not want to see.

You asked for my life, that you might work through me. I have a small part, that I might not get too involved.

O God, forgive me for my calculated efforts to serve you only when it is convenient for me to do so, only in those places where it is safe to do so, and only with those who make it easy to do so.

O God, forgive me, renew me, send me out as a useable instrument, that I might take seriously the meaning of your cross. (Silence)

God the Creator brings you new life, forgives and redeems you. Take hold of this forgiveness, and live your life in the spirit of Jesus. Now be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. Amen.
