Prelude Offtake Carrier mooring rope sensitivity For LNG and LPG exports there is a sensitivity to carriers mooring rope wire eye and splice length. The Nylon pennant 11 m (LPG) or 22 m (LNG) sits between the fairlead of the carrier and the Facility. (see picture below). This distance has been calculated for each carrier, to ensure the pennants fit and there is no contact of the carriers rope/wire to Nylon pennant connection, with the carriers fairlead. In these calculations an allowance of 2. 75 m has been made for the carriers connection (i. e. rope eye and splice or wire eye, ferrule and tonnsburg) If the length of eye and splice is longer then this 2. 75 m allowance and the splice cannot sit in the fairlead then the carrier specific clearance must be recalculated. Copyright of Shell International Prelude therefore requires information about carriers rope/wire connection type and dimension (see next slide) 12 October 2018 1
