On the fine art of…. Covering Letters • Approach as opportunity to showcase your achievements, highlight key areas of your CV, and tease these out a bit more than you can in the CV • Take very seriously, especially if asked to address criteria as this points to what the organisation is looking for • Can be many pages long, and hence even more important in the impression created of you than your CV • Provide evidence to substantiate your claims • The ‘so what’ question – not just what, but why this is significant • Never leave blank – find something to put in there, for example …… prefix: a CRN postgraduate and early career researcher professional development day

On the fine art of…. Covering Letters • Highly Desirable Experience and interest in transnational education, such as offshore teaching in relevant subject areas. While I have not yet had the opportunity to engage in the provision of offshore teaching directly, in my seven years of teaching I do have experience of transnational education. This arises out of having worked with students undertaking study in Australia as part of a short-term study abroad program or as a full-fee paying overseas student whose whole degree is to be obtained at the institution. These students have enriched the teaching experience for both myself and local students by adding their own voices to the diversity of experience to be drawn upon in the classroom. Having undertaken research in the United Kingdom while based institutionally at the Manchester Metropolitan University, I have knowledge of higher education environments beyond Australia. prefix: a CRN postgraduate and early career researcher professional development day
