Emotions might also have a positive influence on a person’s decision-making as emotions

Emotions might also have a positive influence on a person’s decision-making as emotions can help an individual achieve a goal. In Homer’s Odyssey, Odysseus is consumed by the love he has for his wife and son. The passion he feels for his family aids him in resisting the temptation of the seanymph, Calypso. Emotions drive this hero’s 20 year journey to get back to Ithaca, helping him finally achieve his goal at the end of the epic. Emotions can give a person the motivation they need to keep pressing forward, even when situations get hard. Without the emotional drive to succeed, mankind is left lacking a sense of urgency. Lackadaisical attitudes such as these can greatly hinder the achievements of a society. It’s only when people use their passions for a purpose that true change can take place.
