What is The Practical Training 3 A student works in an IT/SW centre of a government or private sector on a technical task (not administrative) A student has to spend at least 8 weeks or 300 hours in an approved training location full-time A student is NOT allowed to register in any other summer course while she is doing her training A student conducts her practical training during the last year prior to her graduation A student is required to complete 95 credit hours to register for the practical training

What is The Practical Training 4 In addition the following courses should be taken by the student: § ENGL 140, ENGL 150, CSC 111(java 1), CSC 113 (java 2), SWE 211 (Introduction to SWE), SWE 381 (Web app development), IS 230 (Database Systems), CSC 212(Data Structures), SWE 321 (Design and Architecture) § Attend workshops package that will be announced later in the blog ( 10 grades from final grade) A student can either : § Identify the training location on her own (Your-List) § Compete for the training locations provided by the CCIS college (KSU-List- few seats. . 5 – 10 for each department in college )

Position Allocation Requirements 10 The following are requirements from the trainer organization/institute: The department must work on technical applications and/or systems, such as software/hardware design/development/testing. Training position brought by student (Your-List) A student cannot bring a training position from the same place as the ones offered by the training unit Some positions offered by the CCIS depending on (KSU-List): GPA of student IELTS(5. 5) or equivalent English qualifications (if exists) Training experiences on IT (if exists)

Criteria to select a company 11 The following are recommended requirements for a company to be selected as the training place Your supervisor has a background in computing You should be able to work in a multi-disciplinary team The company/institution should use current tools and techniques The company/institution should work on projects that have local or global impact 11

12 Paperwork and Schedule

Paperwork Your-List • Visit the Training Unit to get the contact information of the some companies/institutions (important) • From blog , get more information about training: Practical Training Program –(Arabic English )& Summary Training Specifications –(Arabic English ) • Find a company according to the mentioned criteria and take its acceptance (orally ) • From blog , print and fill Practical Training Plan and take Official Request Letter for company/institution from Training Unit /Committee Secretary and Sign Practical Training Regulation • It is highly recommended to attached your CV , Transcript and other qualifications with forms submitted to company • Bring back forms for evaluation and approval to Training Unit /Committee Secretary • Check the accepted student at the blog ( site) 13

Paperwork KSU-List • For announced places(few) , apply to Training Unit with : Practical Training Request , Transcript, TOEFL / IELTS exam results and CV in English and Sign the Practical Training Regulations. • If your application is accepted and pass the interview – DONE • Otherwise, the student has to reapply for YOUR-LIST 15
