What is PPE? • PPE is equipment worn to minimize exposure to serious workplace injuries or illnesses. • Some injuries and illnesses are the result of exposure to chemical, physical, radiological, mechanical and electrical or other hazardous workplace conditions
General information • All personal protective equipment should be functional and safe to use and properly cleaned and maintained regularly. • All equipment should fit comfortable and encourage use by workers.
Problems lack of PPE can cause • Lack of PPE can cause permanent physical and financial damage • If you are injured on the job, and are not wearing or properly using your personal protective equipment, you can get in legal trouble
Workers compensation • Without the proper PPE, you can get in legal trouble involving workers compensation, including getting reduced or even no benefits from the incident. • This will be the case if it is proven that the injury you have received could have been prevented from properly using the PPE available.
