Diversity & Inclusion and anti-Racism Initiatives • Strike 4 Black. Lives event on June 10 stimulated discussions at multiple levels in the lab, in collaborations, and throughout the community. • SAC is working on a set of recommendations. • Lab senior management has had several meetings in last few weeks. Smaller mgmt. group now meeting frequently to discuss concrete actions the lab can take to improve in these areas. • PPD Climate Survey action team on D&I and Harassment (one of 3 groups) has reconstituted itself. See Noah’s brief presentation. Would like broader input. • Identify actions that can/should be taken at the Department/Division/Lab levels. • Ensure we include job categories beyond scientists in the process. 4 PPD All Hands Meeting 6/26/20

Question • Q: Where does the Division stand on the hiring of new mechanical technicians? How many reqs are in? How many have been approved? When can we expect to have new people starting? • A: 5 Mechanical Technicians retired between Dec. and Feb. One position was approved by the lab earlier this year, and that search is on-going (applications just closed). Another job req is pending approval by the lab Jobs Committee.
