I really liked how the image depicted the people’s power within themselves to stand up for what is right and protest an oppressive regime. What Does This Image State About Power? This image states that power can be shown in many different ways, that power may be held by many not just one. Why Do You State So? I say this because throughout the coverage of the Egyptian protest, we see how the peoples’ voices were heard and their leader changed. The new piece is simply a series of words depicting the event and the effects. Message Changes? Yes or No? Morph 2 (Genre Morph Form 2 part 2) Explanation of How New Genre/Piece Differs from Original: The original piece is a photograph of a series of power lines/ transformers. The morphed pieces are both a video and collage that provide the viewer with two different ways of looking at the power of power. Message Changes? Yes or No? How so? : No, the message doesn’t change because both pieces are able depict the power that electricity holds over humanity. New Genre/Piece Caption (if needed): 1 st: electricity traveling through power lines. 2 nd : the power of electricity.

Trace 1 (Egyptian Riots) Text: Photograph. This shows the riot that took place in Egypt; protestors were rioting against president Mubarak. Reader: The intended audience can be anyone at all and I am part of this intended audience. Anyone reading about government or protests can be the audience for this piece. I don’t believe the author and I share many commonalities apart from the fact that we are both interested in government. I am a reader open to change offered by the photograph because it’s fairly simple to understand what’s taking place no matter the context. Author: The piece was published online through a photography blog. The author or publisher of the image is not known but he/she clearly wanted to inform people of the situation in Egypt. I don’t believe that the author of this piece possesses any well-known credentials. Constraints: Some limitations the author of the piece might encounter are being able to communicate the message to others that don’t fully understand the situation. Limitations that may influence the reader or audience are being educated or well informed on the current situations in foreign countries. The limitations don’t have noticeable indicators in the text because it is photograph but they can be seen if the audience doesn’t understand. Exigence: The authors involvement in the argument is being the communicating with the audience and delivering the message about the government and the problems the society has with their governments policies.

Trace 2 (Japan Tsunami) Text: This is a Photograph about the devastating tsunami that struck Japan in 2011. The picture is unique to me because it clearly demonstrates when the waves are the coast. Reader: The intended audience would be people interested in worldwide news, I consider myself to be part of this audience. Both the person that published the image and I are interested in news, not just news within the U. S but worldwide. Author: The author of the image is unknown, it was published anonymously on the web. His or her credentials are unknown; the reason for publishing the image would be to inform people all over the world about the fatal tsunami. Constraints: some limitations that the author might encounter are perhaps successfully informing others on the situation. He/she must be able to write an article that anyone can understand. The Limitations don’t have any noticeable indicators within the text because it’s a photograph but understanding where this picture was taken and why it’s important can be a constraint. Exigence: The author most likely took the picture as a way to inform the world on just how severe the tsunami was and to also spark an interest in the matter so as to indirectly call for help.
