Business Challenges Feature Building application to digitally transform your business is challenging

Data Democratization Data democratization means that everybody has access to data and there are no gatekeepers Feature that create a bottleneck at the gateway to the data Data democratization is an evolution Data was “owned” by IT Departments. Business units such as marketing, business analysts and executives used the data to make business decisions, but they always had to go through the IT department to get the data. Need strong data governance in place to ensure the data is carefully managed

Citizen Developers Feature A Citizen developer is a user who creates new business applications for consumption by others using development and runtime environments sanctioned by corporate IT v They don’t know code, but they know the business v No-code is the next generation of app development, democratizing the app-building process and giving IT and the business a platform to collaborate

Who Propels Data Democratization Feature Tech innovation that propels data democratization Incredible amount of data that is created, BIG Data Tech innovation • Data Virtualization software • Data Federation Software – uses metadata to aggregate data from a variety of sources in a virtual database • Cloud Storage – Centralized location to store data • Self Service BI Applications – These applications make it easier for non-technical users to interpret data analysis

Open Data Initiative - ODI Feature Adobe, Microsoft, and SAP are partnering on the Open Data Initiative to enable data to be exchanged—and enriched—across systems, making it a renewable resource that flows into intelligent applications. https: //www. microsoft. com/en-us/open-data-initiative

Point. Azure Data Lake Storage Gen 2(preview) – CDM brings Semantic consistency to data with in the lake so that Applications and services can interoperate more easily when data is in the same format

Common Data Service for Apps- CDS Feature Today, the CDM is used within Common Data Service (CDS) for Apps, which supports Dynamics 365, Power. Apps, and the data-preparation capabilities in Power BI dataflows to create schematized files in Azure Data Lake. The CDM definitions are open and available to any service or application that wants to use them.

CDM Folders – Azure Data Lake Storage Gen 2 Feature CDM Folder - A folder in a data lake that conforms to specific, well-defined, and standardized metadata structures and self-describing data. These folders facilitate metadata discovery and interoperability between data producers and data consumers. Model. json - A metadata file in a folder in an Azure Data Lake Storage Gen 2 Preview instance that follows the CDM metadata format. If this file exists in such a folder, it's a CDM folder Data Producer - A service or app that creates data in CDM folders in Azure Data Lake Storage Gen 2 Preview Data Consumer -A service or app that consumes data in CDM folders in Azure Data Lake Storage Gen 2 Preview https: //docs. microsoft. com/en-us/common-data-model/data-lake

Power Apps Champion – Samit Saini Feature Samit Saini was a security guard at London Heathrow Airport who enjoyed tinkering with technology like Excel and VBA. When he got access to Power. Apps, he used it to digitize some of the paper-based processes at Heathrow such as providing translations for common questions asked by international passengers, performing customer experience audits, and supporting passengers with reduced mobility. Watch Samit’s Journey Heathrow has benefitted greatly from this level of substitution, having already saved more than 11, 000 sheets of paper, 850 hours of time, and $460, 000 in potential app costs. They cite that every 25, 000 sheets of paper saved equals about 3 trees. But as Samit puts it, "In Heathrow, we're not trying to save trees, we're trying to save the forest. " With this type of implementation, Power. Apps is reducing the consumption of resources of paper, time, and money. https: //powerapps. microsoft. com/en-us/blog/powerapps-champions
