Discuss with your parents regarding plans after High School (college, military, workforce, 4 -year college, 2 -year college, etc. ) • GPAs are updated at the end of each semester. • What you have at end of your Junior year is what “Colleges” will see. • The end of Junior year is the time for you to finalize your plans and get ready for the " action" portion of Senior year. • Complete the “Do What You Are” assessment on Naviance. This will help you to get an overall idea of your strengths to consider for careers and college majors. It can be accessed under the about me section.

Requesting an SAT/ACT Waiver • Students who receive free or reduced lunch are allowed 4 waivers for testing. You must ensure that you are eligible. Check with your parents if you are unsure. • Eligible SAT Waivers- 2 - Students will sign up to take the general test. The waiver includes the test, essay, and question- answer service. • You must register via www. collegeboard. org • Eligible ACT Waivers-2 – Students will sign up for the general test portion. You must register at www. actstudent. org • Waivers may not be interchanged. Most students will take both SAT and one ACT; however, you may use all four if needed.

How to Formally Request a Waiver • Ms. Austin is the counselor who handles all waivers. Students who need a waiver must complete a blue waiver request form that is located on the entryway desk in the counseling department. Please complete the request form, fully. • Waiver meetings to distribute codes are held on Wednesday afternoons. Students must have the request in Ms. Austin’s box no later than Tuesday at the end of lunch shifts ( 12: 30). • A pass will be sent to you on Wednesday morning. The meeting will take place promptly at 12: 30 pm in the career center. Unless you are absent, please attend as requested to avoid delay. Due to the closure of school, the waiver process will change for the August testing. Please check your Naviance, regularly, for the new procedure which will take place via e-mail correspondence with Ms. Austin. Electronic codes will be distributed. * Students will be informed mid- May how to request waivers.

A digital copy will be released to students via Naviance with a paper copy to be released to students in September during Senior Conferences. • Please review each page of the senior handbook, as needed. You will find that the handbook is very thorough and provides information relative to all aspects of college and career planning.
