what is post-modernism? ● It is a 20 th. C movement within the fields of arts, architecture, philosophy, and criticism ● Date: 1940 s ● Development of the modernist movement ● Post-modernism has no definition due to the lack of agreement between its concepts and features 4

Main Features Intertextuality Pastiche Postmodernism is all about the connections between texts, including the various ways in which one text references another (or many others). When the author imitates the style or character of the work of one or more other artists. Metafiction Maximalism Metafiction is a prime example of the self-aware vibe we often find in postmodernism. A reaction against minimalism, is an esthetic of excess and redundancy. The philosophy can be summarized as “more is more”, contrasting with the minimalist motto "less is more". 7
