Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) Turning Point Academy March- 2012/2013
Demographic Turning Point Academy is a Day Treatment school for students with severally emotionally impaired student. Many of the students have had a history of hospitalization. Diagnosis of our students include bipolar, oppositional defiant, schizophrenic and manic depression. Many student are not living with their biological parents, but reside in either Foster Care Homes or Residential Settings.

DATA-Office Disciplinary Referral Highest # of Referrals are in the classroom 8 th grade=Highest # of referrals and lowest increase of reading scores. Second Highest # of referrals Transportation. 58% of students are in the green zone. Modify BIP-Behavior Intervention Plan Question? Is there a direct correlation? Bus Bucks have reduced disciplinary problems. Majority of grade levels show a mark increase in reading scores

SURVEYS Student Survey Most students believe that the program is fair and consistent. Staff Surveys Most of our staff strongly agree that PBIS has resulted in student improvement. Parent Survey Parents strongly agree that their child’s behavior has improved while at TPA. Overall Perception All stakeholders feel that the PBIS program is effective!

Detroit area – Students frequently re-hospitalized – Students frequently adjudicated – Students transient OTHERS: - Have a set catchment area - Limited hospitalization and court intervention - Most students live with their biological parents
