Factors that influence fertility Culture ü Polygamy – One man with many wives is likely to have more children. ü Early marriage Starting a family at a young age means a longer period in which to produce more children. 1.
2. Religion ü Some religions believe that no form of contraception should be used, therefore the birth rate is higher in countries or areas where these religions are predominant.
3. Migration ü When men leave an area the birth rate of the area decreases.
4. War ü Many men killed in war time will mean a decreased birth rate.
5. Education ü People who have been educated about family planning usually have fewer children, as they realise that it is expensive to bring up many children.
Factors that influence mortality 1. ü Natural disasters such as earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunamis etc. result in more increased death rate.
