The Pride of Seven Macaw Before the Dawn • • Seven Macaw is represented as a gorgeous macaw. He has much pride and declares himself greater than both the sun and the moon due to his glorious appearance. Thinks of himself as a god. Seven Macaw is similar to Satan.
The Fall of Seven Macaw and His Sons • • Witnessing the evil within Seven Macaw, the twins, Hunahpu and Xbalanque, decided that for the sake of their people and the world that they must kill him. Together they conduct a plan in which they would use their blowguns to put an end to Seven Macaw and his family.
The Defeat of Seven Macaw
• • • Together the First Grandfather and First Grandmother go to the throne of Seven Macaw with Hunahpu and Xbalanque disguised as their grandsons. Seven Macaw begs the old couple to give him a treatment to help cure him. The grandfather tells Seven Macaw that they will have to remove his teeth to fix his jaw. The First Grandfather replaces Seven Macaw’s teeth with grains of maize. After he had finished, Seven Macaw’s face fell off. The First Grandfather and First Grandmother then proceeded to take the precious metals from his eyes, and he died. After Seven Macaw’s death, Chimalmat died as well. Hunahpu retrieved his arm and reattached it.
The Deeds of Zipacna and the Four Hundred Boys • Characters: Zipacna, Four Hundred Boys • • • Four hundred boys drag a tree past Zipacna carries the tree for them The four hundred boys plot to kill him While digging a hole, a tree is dropped in on him The boys celebrate Zipacna's death Zipacna kills them all
The Defeat of Zipacna • Characters: Hunahpu, Xbalanque, Zipacna • • • Zipacna loves hunting for fish and crab Hunahpu and Xbalanque set a trap for Zipacna They lead Zipacna to the river to catch a crab Zipacna tries to catch the crab in the crevice of a mountain He fails and tries again by sliding on his back The mountain settles down on Zipacna
The Defeat of Cabracan • Characters: Hunahpu, Xbalanque, Cabracan • • • Cabracan is a destroyer of mountains Hunahpu and Xbalanque tell Cabracan of a nearby mountain Along the way, they all become hungry The twins trick Cabracan by coating his food with earth After he eats the food, he loses his strength The twins bind Cabracan and throw him into the earth
The Deeds of One Hunahpu and Seven Hunahpu Above Xibalba • One Hunahpu and Seven Hunahpu played dice and ball everyday • One Batz and One Chouen became singers and flautists, sculptors and writers, jade workers and metalsmiths
• Lords of Xibalba felt disrespected • One Death and Seven Death sent the judges of Xibalba to harass One Hunahpu and Seven Hunahpu
