Pop Cup Would you like to make your own fun game to play either on your own, in pairs or with your family? YES? This is what you will need to get started: ü ü ü 1 x Empty clean yoghurt / cream pot or disposable thermal cup 1 x Balloon Scissors Sticky tape 1 x Piece of paper Things to decorate your game with Enjoy making your own Pop Cup and have fun playing the games – can you make up some games of your own? Could you make a Pop Cup to give to someone else as a gift?
Pop Cup How To Make your Pop Cup 1. Find an empty and clean pot or disposable cup (I have used a disposable cup). 2. Carefully cut out the bottom of the pot or cup. 3. Tie a knot in the balloon – do not blow up the balloon! 4. Carefully make a small cut in the end of the balloon about the same as the diameter (the distance from the centre of the hole to the edge of the hole) of the cut out end of the pot or cup.
Pop Cup 5. Carefully stretch the balloon over the cut end of the pot or cup. 6. Secure the balloon to the pot or cup with sticky tape. You can decorate your Pop Cup as you like (I have used some stickers). 7. Make a ball from a piece of screwed up paper or if you have time you could make a small pompom to use as a ball. 8. Your Pop Cup is now ready for action – just put your paper ball into the cup, hold the cup with one hand pull down on the knot of the balloon so it stretches – let go of the knot and watch your ball fly. Here are some games you could have a go at:
Pop Cup Games CATCH IT o o Hold the cup in the hand you like to use most. Put the ball into the cup. Pull down the balloon knot and release it. Try to catch the ball back in the cup. Easier: v Only pull the balloon down a little bit so that the ball does not fly too high. Harder: Ø Hold the cup in your least favourite hand to try to catch the ball. o You could also play this game with a partner – use 1 ball and pop the ball to each other. o Can you think of other ways to play this game?
Pop Cup Games FLOOR TARGET Have 5 balls ready to use. Put 5 targets (pieces of paper, or books) onto the floor. Each target is worth a different score. Stand a few big steps away from the targets, and aim your pop cup at the one you want to hit. o Use all 5 balls 1 at a time and if you hit a target add that score to your total. How many can you score with 5 balls? o o Easier: v Make your targets bigger or stand closer to the targets. Harder: Ø Make the targets smaller or stand further away. o You could also play this game with a partner – who can score the most? o Can you think of other ways to play this game?
Pop Cup Games TABLE SKITTLES o Have 5 balls ready to use. o Put some skittles (I used a small teddy, a pen and tube of cream) onto a table. o Stand a few big steps away from the table, and aim your pop cup at the skittle you want to hit. o Use all 5 balls 1 at a time - can you knock over all your skittles? Easier: v Stand closer to the skittles. Harder: Ø Stand further away from the skittles. o You could also play this game with a partner – who can knock down all the skittles using the fewest number of balls? o Can you think of other ways to play this game?
Pop Cup Games SHOOT FOR DISTANCE o o o Put the ball into the cup. Hold the cup so that it is pointing into a space. Pull back the balloon knot and pop the ball. How far has your ball flown? Try again – can you beat your best distance? How far does the ball fly? o You could also play this game with a partner – who can pop their ball the furthest? o Can you think of other ways to play this game?
