Fast facts about the Ganges • The Ganges River is 1557 miles long passing through Bangladesh and India • The Ganges River has always been known as a religious icon in the world • This river is also used a baptizing sanctuary, and burial hole • the country of India only uses 20% of the rivers potential capacity
The Pollution of the Ganges • Approximately 1 billion liters of raw, untreated sewage are dumped in the river on a daily basis • The amount of pollution has more than doubled in the last 20 years • Thousands of bodies are cremated on the banks of the river yearly • Hundreds Unwanted of babies, cattle and other animal carcasses are also dumped in the Ganges • The levels of Coli form bacteria is over 2800 times the level considered safe by the W. H. O (world health organization)
Why the Ganges is important • The Ganges River is the most sacred river to the Hindus • The pollution threatens not only humans but 140 species of fish and the endangered Ganges River Dolphin • The Ganges sustains one of the world's highest densities of population • It is the most water source there
What causes the Ganges to be so dirty? • • First of all people throw trash in the Ganges Those trash includes: Industrial waste Cattle Dead bodies And people bathe in the Ganges Municipal Waste Sewage

Summary I learned that there a lot of sewage and waste in the Ganges River. Some interesting facts that I learned was that the Ganges River is supposed to be the most sacred river and it is extremely polluted. I think it is wrong to just throw waste into a river. I thought that the pollution of the Ganges River was a really entertaining subject to research about.
