Adolf Hitler • Adolf Hitler was the leader of Germany in 1942 • He was a dictator • He also attempted to take over the world and “purify” it • Before taking over as dictator he was chancellor

Hitler (continued) • Caused the holocaust • Believed greatly in fascism • Immensely stretched the borders of Germany • Committed suicide in 1945

Joseph Stalin • Dictator of Russia formerly know as the Soviet Union • He introduced the “Five-Year Plan” • He led the Soviet Union to join the Allies and help to defeat the Nazis • His original given name was Iosif Vissarionovich Dzhugashvili

Stalin (continued) • Executed his party members if they did not agree with him • He was in a seminary but was thrown out later on • As a child he survived small pox but scars remained on his face • Suffered from a stroke in 1953

F D Roosevelt • President of the United States during World War II • He was the 32 nd president of the United States • He was a strong democratic • He was the only president to serve more than two terms

Roosevelt (continued) • • Started his career at State Senate Appointed Assistant Secretary of the Navy Moved onto president nine years later He was weak and sick for an extended amount of time and finally passed away in 1962

Benito Mussolini • His official title was "His Excellency Benito Mussolini, Head of Government, Duce of Fascism, and Founder of the Empire” • He led Italy into World War II and sided mainly with France against Germany

Mussolini (continued) • His official parties were Republic Fascist, National Fascist, and Italian Socialist • He was in leadership of Italy from 1925 to 1943

Hideki Tojo • Joined the Japanese army • His military service included periods in Switzerland Germany • Became head of the Kwantung Army military police in 1935 • He was appointed minister of war in 1941 by Fumimaro Kondoye

Tojo (continued) • A strong supporter of Nazi Germany • He feared long term plans of Joseph Stalin • Advocated pre-emptive air strikes on both China and the Soviet Union • Executed for charges of being a war criminal in 1948

Shigeru Honjo • A close associate to Hideki Tojo • He was a general in the Imperial Japanese Army • He was considered and ardent follower of Sadao Araki’s doctrines • When he returned to Japan he was praised as a war hero

Sadao Araki • Japanese soldier and politician • An ultra-nationalist • After World War II he was convicted as a war criminal • Sentenced to life imprisonment but released in 1965
