What is a political fund? The law requires trade unions to have a political

What is a political fund? The law requires trade unions to have a political fund if they fund a political party, or campaign to persuade people to vote for a political party (or not for a particular political party. ) The EIS operates such a political fund. This allows us to campaign on broad range of issues, even during elections, without the fear of legal action or fines. It also allows us to fund campaigns on matters which are subject of political debate in Scotland (such as smaller class sizes) without fear of legal action or fines. It also allows us to safely fund some EIS work at party political conferences.
