Political Culture • This concept was first used by Gabriel Almond in 1956 in his essay “ Comparative Political System”. • It is set of attitudes beleifs and orientations of the people towards the political system.

Definitions Almond & Powell : “Political Culture is the pattern of individual attitudes and orientations towards politics, among the members of a political system. ” Talcott Parsons : “ Political Culture is concerned with orientations towards political objects. ”

Characteristics of Political Culture • It is a universal concept • It is a comprehensive concept • Every political system has distinct political culture • It is a part of general culture

Political culture influences political system. Political culture has its own subcultures. This concept is subjective in nature. It is larger than constitutional structures. It is a dynamic concept.
