Student Dress Code • All students must recognize the need to dress appropriately for

Student Dress Code • All students must recognize the need to dress appropriately for school. Clothing that appears to create an improper or disruptive influence on the educational environment will not be tolerated. The following guidelines will be in effect:

Student Dress Code 1) No tank tops, halters, spaghetti straps, openchested shirts, tops that

Student Dress Code 1) No tank tops, halters, spaghetti straps, openchested shirts, tops that are transparent or that resemble underwear will be permitted. No blouses, sweaters, or shirts that are worn with a bare midriff will be permitted. No Bandanas or Headscarf’s may be worn at any time in school ** Please Note: If there is a Religious reason to wear a head covering, proper documentation MUST be submitted to the Administration for approval.

Student Dress Code 2) The following items are prohibited: spiked garments or spiked jewelry, anything with metal spikes or rings which include chains attached to a student’s body. 3) Any indecent patches, writing or slogans, cuts and tears (showing skin) on any item of clothing will be considered a violation of the GPA dress code.

Student Dress Code 4) Skirts and shorts must be no higher than 3 inches (standard ruler) above the knee. Trench coats which fall below the knee are prohibited. 5) No pajama bottoms or slippers may be worn in the school. Blankets and pillows used as clothing are also prohibited. No tights or spandex pants may be worn unless the student wears a LONG shirt over the pants.

These items must be removed prior to entering the school. Hoodies may be worn in school but upon entering the building, the hood may not be worn anytime during the day. • See gang affiliation policy for further dress code requirements. • Any violation of the above student dress code will be treated under the Consequences Guide of this Student Handbook. • Administration reserves the final decision on all matters. Staff should review any individual concerns with Administration.

Examples include, but are not limited to, bandannas, scarves, colored sweatbands, etc.

Gang Affiliation Policy • Any student suspected of gang activity will come under greater scrutiny and may not wear any colors, beads, etc. , which are associated with gangs. • Students who do not conform to this policy will meet with the Principal and be offered an opportunity to comply. If the student refuses, the parent/guardian will be notified and appropriate disciplinary action will be taken. • This policy will be implemented immediately and all decisions resulting from this policy will be at the discretion of the School Director or Superintendent.

Cell Phone Contract • All students are to be wanded in and cell phones are to be locked and secured in the teacher’s cabinet until the end of the day. If a student refuses to turn in his/her cell phone, classroom staff is to go through a teaching interaction with the student. If the student continues to refuse to turn in the cell phone, call an administrator.

Cell Phone Contract • The first time a student is found to have a cell phone in his/her possession after being wanded in, the phone should be taken and it should be given back to the student at the end of the day. • The second offense will result in the phone being given to an administrator and held until a parent comes up to get it from the administrator. At that time, the student will not be permitted to bring in a cell phone for the remainder of the school year. The parent and student will sign a statement of acknowledgement indicating they understand that no cell phone is to be permitted in school.

(This merely indicates that the student has been informed of the cell phone policy, not necessarily that they agree with it. )
