POETRY TERMS ENGLISH I

 • Poetry- a kind of rhythmic, compressed language that uses figures of speech

• Poetry- a kind of rhythmic, compressed language that uses figures of speech and imagery designed to appeal to our emotions and imaginations. • Couplet- 2 consecutive lines of poetry that rhyme. • Ex. I think that I shall never see • A poem lovely as a tree.

 • Onomatopoeia- The use of words that sound like what they mean. •
