The planting of seed in the garden, in springtime is like making love. Devotion. The passive but ever-changing shore and the persistent energetic ocean are like a devoted couple. To Earthward. The stages of love are like stepping stones to death. All Revelation. A view of a geode crystal is like the mind probing the universe.

Sonnet What a day, I would say On which shelf are they Oh , there is one piece of it May be this is all of it I remember that there were some more Oh yes , there were more and more A full package of it I think that it was indeed I saw it yesterday at six a. m. And some time later, and then There were no more than one piece Who could have eaten all this? We have no dog or cats in the house And there is no…, absolutely no mouse So who could it be? Can you tell me, maybe…?

Figurative Language A small kernel, a tiny seed, drifts into a fertile mind, floated by inspiring muse, sometimes angry, sometimes kind. In furrows richly watered ideas imbed, softening; anticipated, cracking shell, swift burst at kernel's opening. Pale greening shoots, sprouting branch, vining leaves garner images, sparkling similes, metaphors, figurative language usage. Minutes, hours, days may pass, creative imagination increased; the flower forms, then ripened fruit cycle complete, a poem released.

Figurative Language 'Hope' is the thing with feathers— That perches in the soul— And sings the tune without the words— And never stops—at all— And sweetest—in the Gale—is heard— And sore must be the storm— That could abash the little Bird That kept so many warm— I've heard it in the chillest land— And on the strangest Sea— Yet, never, in Extremity, It asked a crumb—of Me.
Figurative Language In the winter solstice Of struggle, Nets of justice and equality Lay rotting in the inclement trying times; Yet hope prevails. Out of the circadian celestial revolution Of nature’s chiming seasons, The healing Sun will rise To resurrect the fallen leaves of change And melt away The freezing snows of injustice.
