Introduction The theme of this anthology is that you can have fun in any season. I was originally just going to do my anthology about summer but I couldn’t find enough poems about it without them just being pretty much the same. So I decided to do all four seasons instead. The problem I found with this though was that there were no poems about spring that fit into theme. The poem “Summer Morning” talks about how great it is to wake up on a nice clear summer morning. The song “Summertime” by Bon Jovi says “You make me feel something like summertime. Top down ain't nothing but time” which I think means that summer time is a great feeling. My poem “Summer Winter” names a few fun thing about summer and about winter. “Summer Days” has my favorite line out of all the poems, “Let the good times never end!”. “Coasting Down the Hill” the author talks about having fun sledding down the hill with all his friends. “Winter Haiku” talks about the things I enjoy about winter, curling, snowmen, and skiing. “Summer is Great” is a tyburn that explains why summer is great. “Summer Sun” is a shape poem that says the warm summer sun provides the warmth for all the fun things that you do during the summer. “Fall” is a Cinquain about autumn and talks about raking and jumping in the leaves. “Winter is another Diamante that talks about other good things about winter and summer. In “Autumn Lingers” the author says that they like taking walks in the Fall. “Summer Acrostic” is an Acrostic poem about summer. It says that summer is carefree. “December 1 st” is not the actual title of the poem, the poem did not have a title but the date was written where the title should be so I called it that. It fits with my theme because it talks about how its cold in the winter with all the snow and how the author cant wait for summer. The last three poems are the bonus poems. They are a little more far fetched to theme but they still kind of fit.
Summer Morning I saw the dawn creep across the sky And all the gulls go flying by. I saw the sea put on it’s dress Of midsummer loveliness, And I heard the trees begin to stir Green arms of pine and juniper. I heard the wind call out and say: “ Get up, my dear, it is today!” Field, Rachel, Summer Morning, DLTK’s, dltkholidays. com/summer/msummer-morning. htm, April 16, 2010
Summertime Feels something like summertime Top down ain't nothing but time Radio's on and you're by my side Feels something like summertime These days life goes like this Wake up, check that off of some list Gotta be a little something more than this at the bottom of my coffee cup I keep a postcard in the back of my mind White sand, sunshine And you're shining like a brand new dime That's keeping me from giving up Thinking like I had enough
You make me feel something like summertime Top down ain't nothing but time Radio's on and you're by my side Feels something like summertime Like that first slow dance and that first long kiss There ain't nothing baby better then this It's like a beach blanket and a bottle of wine It feels something like summertime Summertime I was a warm breeze with a cool tan Life mapped out on the back of my hand When I was laughing I was making plans But I didn't laugh when I found you If there's a heaven baby you're the proof
You make me feel something like summertime Top down ain't nothing but time Radio's on and you're by my side Feels something like summertime Like that first slow dance and that first long kiss There ain't nothing baby better then this It's like a beach blanket and a bottle of wine It feels something like summertime Summertime
Feels something like summertime Top down ain't nothing but time Radio's on for me and my valentine Like that first slow dance and that first long kiss There ain't nothing baby better then this It's like a beach blanket and a bottle of wine (yeah) Feels something like summertime Top down ain't nothing but time Radio's on and you're by my side, Feels something like summertime Just like summer time Summertime Something like summertime Bon Jovi, Summertime, Az Lyrics, www. azlyrics. com/lyrics/bonjovi/summertime. html April 19, 2010

Coasting Down the Hill Frosty is the morning; But the sun is bright, Flooding all the landscape With its golden light. Hark the sounds of laughter And the voices shrill! See the happy children Coasting down the hill. There are Tom and Charley, And their sister Nell; There are John and Willie, Kate and Isabel – Unknown, Coasting Down the hill, Apples for the teacher, http: //www. apples 4 theteacher. com /holidays/winter/poemsrhymes/coasting-down-thehill. html April 24, 2010 Eyes with pleasure beaming, Cheeks with health aglow; Bless the merry children, Trudging through the snow! Now I hear them shouting, "Ready! Clear the track!" Down the slope they're rushing, Now they're trotting back. Full of fun and frolic, Thus they come and go. Coasting down the hillside, Trudging through the snow.

Summer ~Acrostic~ Summer is the season for me, Under blue skies and carefree, Meandering through fields and trees, Mingling with nature's beauty so free, Eternally grateful that I can see, Roses, tulips and more in Mother Nature's sea. • Terry Lynn, Barbara, Summer ~Acrostic~, Authors Garden, http: //www. authorsden. com/categories/poetry_top. asp? catid=33&id=153644 April 25, 2010

Winter Blues Winter came along And stayed and stayed. I'm sick and tired of winter, I'm afraid. How I yearn for the day When winter goes away, So I can sit out in the sun all day long. I know Snow is falling from the sky, And it's a sight that makes me wanna cry. I'm tired of boots and mittens. With thoughts of spring I am smitten. Oh winter, please. . . just go! Sonnet 18 Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? Thou art more lovely and more temperate: Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May, And summer's lease hath all too short a date: Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines, And often is his gold complexion dimm'd; And every fair from fair sometime declines, By chance or nature's changing course untrimm'd; But thy eternal summer shall not fade Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest; Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade, When in eternal lines to time thou growest: So long as men can breathe or eyes can see, So long lives this and this gives life to thee. Checklist Yes / No Yes / No Yes/ No Yes / No My cover page contains the title of my anthology along with “selected by” and my first and last name. The artwork on the cover is neat and reflects theme of the anthology. My introductory page explains theme of the poems included and describes in a sentence or two how each poem connects to theme. Table of contents page organizes the poems in my anthology and identifies the page that t he poems appear on. Poems by published authors include the proper citation at the bottom of the page that contains the poem. Works Cited page lists the poems alphabetically by author’s last name and uses proper citations as provided in the project handout. I have included bonus poems and ensured that they are included in all areas of the anthology (table of contents, works cited, etc. ) I have edited my poems to ensure that there are no spelling or grammatical errors. I have included artwork that is relevant to the topic for each poem. My project is neat and is ready for publication. I have tried to identify the form of all of the poems I used and wrote. I have posted an original poem to our classroom blog. I have given an appropriate and creative title for each of my personal poems. I have completed my checklist and will include it in my anthology as the second last page. (It does not need to appear in your table of contents. ) I have my rubric and will include it as the final page in my anthology. (It does not need to appear in your table of contents)
