Poetik Kakes Web Development Team Integrated Information Technology ITEC 564 Mark Herrmann, Chris Miller, Brian Capstone Projects Simmons, Will Simons, Travis Spring 2014 Witherspoon Project Charter Project Description • Poetik Kakes is a new business devoted to bringing cupcakes and sweets to any customer with a sweet tooth. “It’s a party in your mouth!” • The project includes design, development, and implementation of an original website with an infrastructure that meets the needs of our client. Deliverables within Scope • Review and discuss client vision for website development • Development of an infrastructure that supports the website requirements and client vision • Development of an original website designed to meet the needs of our client and our client’s customers Deliverables Out-of-Scope • Any website additions or subtractions requested by the client • Tweaks and modifications to existing site and infrastructure as decided by technical leads • Continued support of infrastructure and website after the project has ended Project Mission Statement The goal is to create a website for the company Poetik Kakes. We are going to be creating this Website from scratch in order for the company to reach a broader audience and expand sales. We will include order and payment processing, social media integration, monthly poem contest submission, and an interactive menu for the Website. Technologies Used PMBOK Project Processes • Go. Beta testing continues & final site tweaks 4. Website goes live Project Budget • We incurred a cost with hosting the website on Go. Daddy. Com • Our original estimate for budgeted hours was 200 total project hours. • In reality, our total hours for website completion is closer to 300 total project hours. Project Results and Future Recommendations Project Results – We were able to include a majority of the feature that the client requested, including an interactive menu, “Poem of the Month” monthly poem contest, social media integration, and payment processing. Future Recommendations – We created the Website from scratch in order to assure that we could meet all of the clients expectations. In hindsight using a template could have decreased the amount of time that was spent on development. Lessons Learned Client Needs Key Stakeholders Through bi-weekly client meetings we finalized the scope of the Website and the features that the client needed.
