Poem in october It was my thirtieth year to heaven Woke to my hearing from harbour and And the mussel pooled and the heron Priested shore The morning beckon With water praying and call of seagull and And the knock of sailing boats on the net Myself to set foot That second In the still sleeping town and set forth.
My birthday began with the water- 내 생일은 시작한다 Birds and the birds of the winged trees flying my Above the farms and the white horses And I rose In rainy autumn And walked abroad in a shower of all my days. High tide and the heron dived when I took the 왜가리 물속으로 뛰어든 그때 road Over the border And the gates Of the town closed as the town awoke.
A springful of larks in a rolling Cloud and the roadside bushes brimming with 넘실거리는 구름 속에 봄기운 가득한 종달새 whistling Blackbirds and the sun of October 휘파람 부는 검은 새들로 Summery 가득 찬 길가의 풀섶 On the hill’s shoulder, Here were fond climates and sweet singers 온화한 기온과 달콤한 노래들이 갑자기 아 suddenly Come in the morning where I wandered and 침에 나타났다. listened 내가 저 멀리 숲 속을 돌아다니며 To the rain wringing 비를 쥐어짜는 바람이 Wind blow cold In the wood faraway under me.
Pale rain over the dwindling harbour And over the sea wet church the size of a 그리고 바다너머 안개 속의 뿔 세운 달팽이 snail With its horns through mist and the castle Brown as owls 크기만한 젖은 교회 올빼미의 갈색을 띈 성 But all the gardens 하지만 모든 봄의 정원, 여름은 항구 너머, Of spring and summer were blooming in the 종달새 가득한 구름 밑에서 tall tales Beyond the border and under the lark full cloud. 그곳에서 나는 경이 속에서 There could I marvel 내 생일을 My birthday 보낼 수도 있었으리라 Away but the weather turned around.
It turned away from the blithe country And down the other air and the blue altered sky Streamed again a wonder of summer With apples 사과, 배, 빨간 포도와 함께 여름의 기적을 Pears and red currants 또 흘려 보냈다. And I saw in the turning so clearly a child’s Forgotten mornings when he walked with his 화시키는 것을 보았다. mother Through the parables 그가 그의 어머니와 함께 Of sun light 푸른 예배당의 전설과 And the legends of the green chapels
And the twice told fields of infancy That his tears burned my cheeks and his heart 두 번 이야기된 그 유년의 들판 속으로 moved in mine. These were the woods the river and sea Where a boy 그곳에는 숲과 강, 바다가 있다. In the listening Summertime of the dead whispered the truth of his joy To the trees and the stones and the fish in the And the mystery Sang alive Still in the water and singingbirds. .
And there could I marvel my birthday Away but the weather turned around. Joy of the long dead child sang burning In the sun. It was my thirtieth Year to heaven stood there then in the Though the town below lay leaved with October blood. O may my heart’s truth 오, 나의 마음의 진실이 Still be sung 한 해가 돌아온 후에도 높은 언덕 위에서 On this high hill in a year’s turning.
