PLEDGE INSURANCE FOR SEAFARERS AN INITIATIVE BY DSWA

OBJECTIVE • HELP EACH OTHER WITH THE PRICIPLE “CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME” • HELP ORGANISATION GROW. • ONLY PARTICIPATING MEMBERS ARE COVERED WITH PLEDGE INSURANCE. • PARTICIPATION IS FREE “JUST FILL FORM” • Please note intention of this plan is not to replace other forms insurances. All members are encouraged to buy best protection cover.

WHAT IS PLEDGE INSURANCE We just pledge to each other a certain amount in case of contingency. (No contingency no payment). It is kind of charity funding but here we ensure participation with the help of a pledge. It is completely voluntary and there is no legality if someone doesnot pay after pledging but of course it is not advisable , afterall it is the respect we earn throughout our life.

HOW TO PARTICIPTE(Just 2 steps) 1. Send an email to doonmariners@gmail. com stating the amount pledged with names of Benificiary. 2. Pledge your Amount: ( Rs 8000 for senior officers and 4000 for junior officers) , calculated as one day wages. (You can pay more than your pledge when contingency arises so you dont need to pledge more than this)

HOW TO INITIATE WHEN CONTINGENCY ARISE When any contingency arises: 1. Authenticity of the same will be checked by group of members chosen. 2. All participating members will be contacted to deposit amount directly into account of Benificiary. 3. A crowdfunding will also be initiated at an all india level to create more contribution.

Eligibility • Participants to be member of DSWA • Should be generally residing in Dehradun • Holder of a COC • Employed or previously employed in reputed company • Age 21 -60 years • Only those who pledge would be covered

WHO IS Benificiary • Following can be Benificiary • Wife • Either of Parents • Children (less than 21 years and unmarried) • The Benificiary shall be specifically decided by the member when enrolling

What happens if Benificiary as mentioned did not survive The series of benificiary will be choosen by the member at the time of enrollment If 1 st doesnot survive it goes to second Benificiary.

Perils covered • • • Death of a member ( Accident/ disease) Terminal illness of member Critical illness of member Total disability of member Criminalisation during tour if duty arising out otherwise than a criminal act. • In case of suicide Only voluntary crowd Funding contribution will be initiated. Compulsory call out will not be made.

Is illness or death of an other family member Covered • The basic purpose of this initiative is to help seafarer or family in case where seafare himself cannot earn. • Hence others are not covered
