Planning how to publish your Manifesto! Publish = present as a narrated video or Power. Point slideshow
We have proposed two simple ways to put a recorded reading of your manifesto together with images: 1. A narrated video, with images 2. A narrated Power. Point slideshow of images Don’t get bogged down trying to achieve technical sophistication – what matters is the content of your words and how these are amplified through images or expressive text.
You can interpret these guidelines freely AS LONG AS: 1. your video or Power. Point has A NARRATED version of your manifesto 2. CONTAINS IMAGES 3. the TOTAL DURATION of video or Power. Point slideshow is NO LONGER than 5 mins
NARRATED means: 1. 2. 3. 4. There is an audio recording of your manifesto text It doesn’t have to be your voice It doesn’t have to be ‘face to camera’ if you can come up with a better way It must be audible!
IMAGES means: 1. 2. 3. 4. Still images or moving images A carefully chosen ‘background’ (filming location or scene) Text that has been treated expressively Photographs, digital images, paintings, assemblages, collage, drawings, etc that you have created 5. Other photographs, digital images, paintings, assemblages, collage, drawings, etc from existing sources (these must be correctly cited in your journal).

The best way to plan out your Power. Point slides or your video is to make a STORYBOARD
REMEMBER: by adding images you are trying to enhance, amplify, challenge or add poingnancy to your manifesto words So, use your storyboard to plan out things like how to: • • ‘set the scene’ for you manifesto (like in Julian Rosefeldt’s work) convey the mood (of passion, quiet contemplation, dissatisfaction…etc) give an abstract idea a concrete form add ‘poetry’ to a concrete idea
Next week we will have two filming locations set up with a tripod, phone camera mount, projector and laptop. The locations will be: the Recording Studio and the Plimsoll Gallery loading bay. There will be a third location with tripod and mount: the Plimsoll Gallery garden. Our E-media technician, Aaron Horsley, will be roving around these locations from 11 am-4 pm to assist you. Many of you will want to make a start on your video or Power. Point before next week. WE STRONGLY ENCOURAGE THIS!
