Planet Earth is a very special place.

Earth gives us everything we need to make new things.

BUT Planet Earth sometimes feels very sad and worried. . . . because of the way we treat her.

PROBLEM! Planet Earth is running out of some of the materials and energy sources needed to make paper, plastic, glass and metal for us to use.

We waste too much energy by not turning lights and electrical things off when we have finished using them.

We waste lots of water by leaving the taps on.

We throw away too much food that could be eaten.

We throw million of tonnes of litter on our streets, parks and beaches every year.

Our oceans, lakes and rivers are becoming rubbish dumps. There is even lots of rubbish in space!

But the good news is that we can help planet Earth and make her feel better if. . .

We persuade everyone to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle their rubbish as much as possible. . .

SO WHAT ARE THE RECYCLING RULES?

Remember “THE FAMOUS 5” to get started.

The only plastic that can be recycled in Hampshire is BOTTLED SHAPED. Remember to take the lids OFF first and put them in the normal bin!

Metals Matter! Take on The Big Can Challenge!

You can recycle all food cans - give them a quick wash first, drink cans and aerosols.

Most paper and card can be recycled but there a few extra rules. . . !

PAPER TOWELS IN THE RECYCLING BIN? No thank you!

TISSUES IN THE RECYCLING BIN? No thank you!

“ICKY STICKY” IN THE RECYCLING BIN? No thank you!

SHREDDED PAPER or SKINNY TRIMMINGS IN THE RECYCLING BIN ? No thank you!

WRAPPING PAPER IN THE RECYCLING BIN? No thank you!

CAN ALL GLASS BOTTLES AND JAM JARS BE RECYCLED? Yes Please!

Where should batteries go?

Even Green waste may be REUSED by RECYCLING it into new compost for our gardens at home or in school.

So we need to start helping planet Earth, our school and where we live by taking action now! Take action to. . . LOVE WHERE YOU LIVE AND LEARN
