PLAGIARISM • Plagiarism is using the ideas or words of another person without giving

PLAGIARISM • Plagiarism is using the ideas or words of another person without giving appropriate credit to the source of the information. • The penalty for plagiarism is the same as for cheating. • You will receive a reduced grade (up to and including a zero on the assignment and/or class participation) and may also receive disciplinary action. • Something you need to remember… • Your teacher already knows your vocabulary level, writing style, and level of ability.

PLAGIARISM • When you turn in work that exceeds your abilities, uses language with which you are unfamiliar, or the assignment is in a writing style different from your own, your teacher is able to recognize this. • It is very easy to take the words or ideas of another person and incorporate them into our own writing unless we are very careful to avoid doing so. • While these rules may seem to be tedious, it is important to follow them whenever you are writing or presenting information as your own.

Ø Give credit when paraphrasing the spoken or written words of another person.
