Voltage • Voltage is the difference in electric potential between 2 points in an electric circuit • It may be defined as the difference in the amount of charge between 2 points • Its SI unit is Volts (V), symbol: U • It can also be measured in m. Measuring Voltage • Voltage can be measured using a voltmeter • A voltmeter should be connected in parallel to the terminals of the component to be measured • “V” input should be connected towards the positive pole of the battery and “com” input should be connected towards the negative pole • If the connections are reversed, the voltage will be displayed as negative

Current • Current is the rate of flow of electrons in a circuit • Currents flows from the positive pole to the negative pole • The direction of the current flow is opposite to the direction of electrons • Its SI unit is Amperes (A), Symbol : I • It can also be measured in m. A • Rated current is the current needed by a component to function normally or the current that can be provided by a dry cell
