Heat Transfer Radiation (radiant energy) electromagnetic waves from the sun that pass through space and the earth’s atmosphere to warm the earth’s surface. ALL substances at a temperature above absolute zero emit radiant energy emitted by the earth is called terrestrial radiation The sun emits far more energy and at a higher frequency We will spend a lot more time on the electromagnetic spectrum in about 10 chapters.
