Physical Education Procedures and Expectations 2020 -2021
AMS Physical Education Distance Learning Course Syllabus P. E. Teachers: § Ms. Garcia § Mr. Green § Mr. Hines § Mr. Luther
What is PE about? � Teaching you to move with: �COMPETENCE and �CONFIDENCE � in a wide variety of physical activities in multiple environments that benefit the healthy development of the whole person. ”
Course requirements: Students will be graded according to the standards, as well as participating in physical activities, physical assignments, along with active participation in digital daily discussion, activities, assignments, projects, assessments both in synchronous (with your teacher and class) and asynchronous (away from your teacher and class) learning.
Physical Literacy
What Does Success Look Like? � Participating � Achieving � Striving � Doing to your best ability the day’s goal to be physically fit well on tests, quizzes, homework, writing prompts and projects
Dressing Out What is expected? Appropriate dress for P. E. during live instruction Athletic attire, athletic shoes and socks are recommended. Students will be expected to move during class while at home. ◦ No Uggs, slippers, slides, sandals, heels, boots
Materials Needed � Water Bottle � Laptop � Lined or digital device notebook
Absences �Only excused absences can be made up � 2 weeks to make up an absence upon returning to class
Sickness and Injury � Must have a parent note through email if under 1 -3 days to their teacher. ◦ Still won’t get PE credit until those days are made up � Over 3 days ◦ You need to provide a doctor’s note! Doctor’s notes must be emailed to the office and to the teacher ◦ Report all injuries in class to your teacher immediately! ◦ You won’t get PE credit until those days are made up ◦ If out for more than three days you will be assigned an alternative assignment
� Standard PE Standards 1: The physically literate individual demonstrates competency in a variety of motor skills and movement patterns. � Standard 2: The physically literate individual applies knowledge of concepts, principles, strategies and tactics related to movement and performance. � Standard 3: The physically literate individual demonstrates the knowledge and skills to achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of physical activity and fitness. � Standard 4: The physically literate individual exhibits responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others. � Standard 5: The physically literate individual recognizes the value of physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression and/or social interaction.

Grading � Grades will be consist of two categories: � Participation in class: 50% � Assignments/Assessments/Projects: 50%
Day Periods 1 -3 Periods 4 -6 Monday Assignment- weekly: 10 -15 min workout/ mobility Assignment-weekly- 10 -15 minute out/ mobility Tuesday PLT 4 M Nutrition/Mindfulness/mobility Wednesday Nutrition/Mindfulness/mobility PLT 4 M Thursday Unit Workout through PLT 4 m and assignment Friday Workout through PLT 4 m and weekly Unit assignment
Office Hours: § There will be office hours every Monday for 1 hour and for a ½ hour after your class period has ended on the days you attend that class. § Please use this time to ask questions for any help you need!
Students will be expected to sign into class every other day and actively participate. There will be the following: Attendance A lesson Class discussion- live written response Using apps for interactive learning and checking for understanding Physical activity participation *When students are not in class that day there will be an assignment for students to complete.
Expectations for Class: Show up on time, logged in ready to go Be on mute until asked to come off mute by the teacher Have camera on Not write in the chat box, unless a question is asked by the teacher Use appropriate language Be properly dressed Not be on your phone or be distracted Actively participate in everything Have a great attitude Be adaptable Do your work
Online Acknowledgement: � We as teachers know that distance learning is and will be different for students. Attending class, knowing how to use technology, having technology work properly, not having parental supervision or having equipment available are all possible difficulties that each student may encounter at times. We ask that you do your best and contact your teacher ASAP via email to explain your situation. There will be grace, we will help you and we want you to have fun, get educated, and be successful.

Please follow the following guidelines as often as possible: � -Have a parent or sibling home while completing any physical activities � -Hydrate often and use well balanced nutrition � -Know your limits and take breaks when needed � -Follow all teacher’s instructions and guidelines for safety and proper technique � -Ask questions if you do not understand the expectations � -If an accident or injury occurs please contact your parent/guardian and your teacher ASAP �
